Sharon’s latest book, The Neighbour’s Secret (Orion, November 2024) has been long-listed for the CWA Twisted Dagger 2025.
New this year, and joining coveted awards such as the Gold, Steel and Non Fiction Daggers, the Twisted Dagger celebrates psychological, suspense and domestic noir thrillers set in any period. The eventual winner is likely to be a dark and twisty tale, with unreliable narrators, disturbed emotions, a healthy dose of moral ambiguity and a sting in the tail. Other long-listed authors include John Marrs (The Stranger in the House), Amanda Jennings (Beautiful People) and NJ Cracknell (The Perfect Couple)
In the past Sharon has been shortlisted for the Gold Dagger (Blood Harvest) and the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger (The Pact). In 2014, she won the Dagger in the Library, for her body of work.
Team Buckman have got the new year off to a great start, with rights for The Neighbour’s Secret selling in Poland. Sharon’s Polish publishers, Amber, hope to have the hardback and ebook available in the spring, with the ‘pocketbook’ edition following later this year. Thanks, as always, to Rosie and Jessica.
Signed copies of Sharon’s seventeenth published book, The Neighbour’s Secret, are available now from Goldsboro Books. Sharon Bolton books rarely remain in stock long (although there does seem to be one rare copy of Sacrifice available) so order now to be sure of a copy.
Goldsboro Books, in Cecil Court, London, specialise in signed first editions.
Foreign rights to Sharon’s books have sold in Norway, Germany, Japan, Italy, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Spain and Sri Lanka this year. Sharon’s foreign rights agents, The Buckman Agency, have closed the following deals:
The Neighbour’s Secret will be published in Germany (Goldmann) Denmark (Jentas), Japan (Shinchosha) and the Czech Republic (Albatros), while Sharon’s previous title, The Fake Wife, will appear in Norway (Cappelen Damm). Cappelen Damm have also bought rights to The Dark.
Skinnbok, based in Iceland and sister company of Jentas, Sharon’s Danish publisher, have bought rights to publish several backlist titles: Sacrifice, Awakening, Blood Harvest, Now You See Me and Dead Scared in Italy and Sacrifice in Spain.
The Buried and The Split have sold to Sinhalese publisher, Ashirwada Printers and Publishers.
As always, Sharon sends her grateful thanks to all her overseas publishers and to Rosie and Jessica Buckman for all their hard work on her behalf.
